Client Background

The cooperating client is a niche women’s wear cross-border e-commerce brand targeting the European and American markets. With a short brand history, it lacks an in-house design team and mature supply chain, focusing on the "soft French retro" aesthetic. Its target audience is females aged 25–35 who prioritize sophisticated dressing. The brand intended to launch a line of differentiated French dresses to penetrate the market, but constrained by budget, it could only support small-batch trial runs and required rapid responsiveness to market feedback.

 

Pain Points & Demands

Without in-house design capabilities, the client required end-to-end ODM services spanning style R&D to manufacturing. The dresses needed pattern grading tailored to the body proportions of European and American women, balancing retro elegance with everyday wearability.

Small-batch trial production demand: the initial order was only 500 pieces, covering 3 colorways and 2 size ranges. It was critical to control production costs while ensuring fabrics were eco-friendly and skin-compatible.

Strict timeliness requirements for cross-border e-commerce: the lead time from design finalization to finished product delivery needed to be compressed to 30 days to avoid missing the peak sales season.

 

ODM Customization Solutions

Targeted Style R&D & Pattern Optimization: A dedicated design team was assigned to conduct in-depth market research on European and American retro women’s wear trends. Aligned with the client’s brand positioning, two core styles were developed: waist-cinched floral midi dresses and minimalist solid-color square-neck dresses. Key pattern adjustments included widened shoulder straps and optimized waistline placement to fit Western body shapes; detachable waist belts were added to enhance styling versatility.

Custom Fabric Selection & Craftsmanship Refinement: In line with the client’s eco-friendly commitment, recycled PET printed fabrics and breathable cotton-linen blend fabrics were selected, both certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 to meet the environmental access criteria of European and American markets. Craftsmanship upgrades included French hollow lace necklines and invisible zipper closures to elevate product quality; low-saturation retro floral prints were adopted to avoid homogenized competition.

Small-batch Quick Response Flexible Production: Leveraging proprietary flexible production lines, the traditional mass-production model was replaced to enable precise scheduling for 500-piece small batches. A full-process quality control (QC) inspection system was implemented, with checkpoints at fabric pre-shrinking, cutting & sewing, and finished product pressing, ensuring a product qualification rate of over 99.5%.

Timeliness Guarantee & After-sales Support: The supply chain workflow was optimized: fabric sourcing and sample making were completed within 7 days post-design finalization, mass production was finished in 20 days, and delivery was made 3 days ahead of schedule. Additionally, a post-sales return and exchange solution was provided to assist the client in addressing product damage issues during cross-border logistics and fulfillment.

 

Cooperation Outcomes

After launching on Amazon and the brand’s independent website, the two French dress styles achieved sales of over 300 pieces within 15 days, driven by differentiated design and premium quality, with a customer repurchase rate of 28%—far exceeding the client’s expectations.

Following the success of the small-batch trial, the client promptly placed a reorder of 3,000 pieces and commissioned the development of an autumn long-sleeve dress collection, establishing a long-term stable partnership.

The products passed the environmental certification of European and American markets, successfully circumventing trade barriers, helping the client secure a foothold in the niche women’s wear segment, and significantly boosting brand visibility.
